Hosting of the first testing of the WHO INCLUDE Web Training Program on Community Based Rehabilitation

Hosting of the first testing of the WHO INCLUDE Web Training Program on Community Based Rehabilitation

Munich, April 27th to May 1st, 2015

Guidelines on Community-based rehabilitation developed by WHO, in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United National Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) provide support to national, regional and global efforts to promote community-based rehabilitation programmes for persons with disabilities and their families (WHO 2010, http://www.who.int/disabilities/cbr/guidelines/en/ ).

This CBR guidelines target program managers and stakeholders and should strengthen CBR programs to meet the basic needs of people with disabilities using a participatory approach. They offer practical suggestions on how to build links with and strengthen the capacity of mainstream services and facilitate access to specific services to empower people with disabilities and their families to access the benefits of the health, education, livelihood and social sectors and improve their quality of life.

Recently, WHO has developed an online course for Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) managers and managers of other NGOs that will give them the opportunity to study the content of the CBR guidelines. This course has almost reached completion and will be launched on 30th June in Geneva.

As a last step in its development, there will be a Beta testing, where around 30 persons from all over the world and a range of backgrounds, such as CBR managers and advisors, disability activists, members of mainstream NGOs and bilateral organizations and local and national governments, will be invited to go through four or more of the modules and to give feedback on its usability.

The Institute for Public Health and Health Services Research, as a collaborator of the WHO Blindness and Deafness Prevention, Disability and Rehabilitation Unit (BDD), has the pleasure to host this Beta Testing from 24th April to 1st May 2015.
