Over the past four years, FoodSAMSA has worked to improve food environments in South Africa

FoodSAMSA cooperated with actors on different levels across South Africa, from collaborating with communities in three townships, engaging with formal and informal food businesses, to involving policymakers in the assessment of food policy implementation. End of October 2025 marked the official conclusion of the project, with several dissemination activities taking place across the Cape Town area.
The FoodSAMSA project was selected by the German Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) to be featured on the occasion of World Food Day.
