Meta-Analysis "Effectiveness of Neo-adjuvant Chemotherapy and Regional Hyperthermia in Soft Tissue Sarcoma"

Description

Background

In persons with soft tissue sarcoma, neo-adjuvant chemotherapy is considered a standard treatment. The combination of both neo-adjuvant chemotherapy and regional hyperthermia seems to improve the therapy results in different types of cancer. There is, however, no overview addressing the question whether the combination of these two therapies has a positive effect on tumor-free survival, general survival and local progression-free survival in persons with soft tissue sarcoma. Such an overview would facilitate decision making when treating persons with soft tissue sarcoma.

Objective

The objective of this study is to determine the effect of a combined chemotherapy and regional hyperthermia on tumor-free survival, general survival and local progression-free survival in persons with soft tissue sarcoma based on existing evidence.

Duration

1/2015 - 11/2015

Cooperation Partner

The meta-analysis are performed in the cooperation with the Department of General, Visceral, Transplantation, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery, Ludwig Maximilians-University, University Hospital Munich, Munich, Germany (PD Dr. med. Martin Angele).
